Du 21 avril au 26 juin 2010, je présenterai dans la Galerie Au Bonheur du Jour une nouvelle exposition consacrée
au nu masculin. En 1870, Marconi et Igout photographient des modèles pour les ateliers de peintres et de
sculpteurs. Le genre du nu masculin connaît dans les années 1885-1890 un regain de créativité
avec l'école italienne, où s'illustrent Plüschow, Gloeden et Galdi : les mises en scène
à l'antique ouvrent la voie au nu érotique. Dans les années 1900-1920, le nu masculin est
une source d'inspiration pour l'école pictorialiste, académique et naturaliste. Vers 1930 apparaissent
de nombreux photographes qui mettent en scène les beautés masculines avec une grande sophistication.
De 1940 à 1960, l'alibi athlétique permit de dénuder les hommes dans toute leur splendeur.
Avec la liberté d'expression de notre modernité, depuis les années 70 au XXe siècle,
le nu masculin épanouira tout son potentiel esthétique. |

From april 21 to june 26, I will present in my Art Gallery "Au Bonheur du Jour" a new exhibition of vintage
photographs, paitings and drawings devoted to the male nude, from 1870 to the XXIst century. In 1870, Marconi and
Igout were shooting photographs of models for painters and sculptors studios. Between 1885 and 1890, a peak of
creativity was reached by the "Italian school" of the nude male photography, with artists such as Plüschow,
Gloeden and Galdi. Inspired by classical antiquity, they introduced in their photographs many homoerotic overtones.
From 1900 to 1920, male nudity inspired many artists of the pictorialist, academic and naturalist schools. In 1930,
many new photographers used a great sophistication in their depiction of male beauty. From 1940 to 1960, sports
and athletism were a social alibi for photographers willing to show nude men and their
splendid beauty. From the seventies of the XXth century, freedom of expression as well as the so-called "sexual
revolution" allowed artists to fully unveil the male body : the beauty of male nudity was then revealed with
all its aesthetic potential. |
